Win Tickets To Sound + Vision

Word on the street is that ELECTROMA is close to sold out (about 30 tickets left), and CONTROL is close behind. But don’t fret, you can still win tickets to both films!

We have a few tickets to give away to anyone who can prove their love for JOY DIVISION or DAFT PUNK. Send us an image that shows you are the biggest Joy Division or Daft Punk fan in Hawaii. Dig out those mod pictures from the 80’s or get cracking on some fancy helmets.

Please email your image to contest@airspaceworkshop.com. Deadline for entries is Thursday afternoon at 5pm. 5 winners will be selected for each screening and notified via email.

Sound + Vision

Sound + Vision

Airspace Workshop is proud to sponsor the Hawaii International Film Festival’s Sound + Vision program, featuring Anton Corbijn’s CONTROL and Daft Punk’s ELECTROMA. Both films screen Friday October 26th, with CONTROL kicking things off at 9:30p and ELECTROMA following at midnight.

We’ve got some tickets to give away, so stay tuned to our microsite for an opportunity to win a pair (once we figure out a clever way to give them away).

Congrats to HIFF on their 27th year! The 2007 Fall Festival kicks off tomorrow.

Hungry Ears

Hungry Ears

A special delivery from Burgerworld Media arrived today. What’s the auditory equivalent of licking your lips? I don’t know, but I think it just happened.

Let’s Get Weird

Alejandro Jodorowsky’s 1970 Mexican cult western, El Topo, was finally released on DVD in May, after being pulled from circulation and withheld from screenings by its producer (and influential 1960’s rock manager) Allen Klein for over 30 years. John Lennon said it was his favorite movie, and other fans include Marilyn Manson and David Lynch. Gunfights, dwarfs, and disfigured characters mixed heavily with eastern philosophy and Christian symbolism… film doesn’t get much more arty.

Eden Log

Eden Log, an upcoming French Sci-Fi Horror film, has dropped a trailer on the y’tubes. While it looks like it’s gotta that 1980’s Alien vibe, what’s interesting is the movie’s approach to international marketing. The trailer stars a human female avatar as narrator, but for each country, the actress is re-cast to speak their native language. Hi-fives for production value!

Electroma

Electroma

So I spent 70 minutes of my Saturday evening watching Daft Punk’s Electroma, which is available internationally on DVD (coming soon to the U.S. courtesy of Vice) and currently touring the nation via midnight screenings and festival appearances. The film contains no Daft Punk tracks and no dialog, but plenty of robots and extraneous cinematic artistry. It’s a minimalist visual opus, so if the symphony and THX 1138 don’t appeal to you, then stay far, far away.
